Hair Loss in Men: A Client’s Story

By the age of 35, ⅔ of American men have experienced some degree of hair loss. Even though it is more common in men than women, society still thinks men are less emotionally affected by their hair loss. This societal belief is inaccurate and detrimental to men suffering from hair loss who are seeking a hair loss solution.

We hope that by sharing male and female client’s stories and experiences, we can help foster openness while educating and strengthening the hair loss community. At Refined Hair, we had the opportunity to interview one of our male clients about his hair loss journey, which we are grateful to be able to share with you today!

How did you find Refined Hair?

My girlfriend found Refined Hair (then called Shanna Moll Studio) in an advertisement on Facebook posted by the Austin American Statesman.

Can you tell me about your hair loss journey?

I started losing my hair in middle school which was very embarrassing. Many of my classmates at that time were really mean, which motivated me to search for any solutions available. At that time, Minoxidil was the only thing available and it was very effective. By high school, I was taking Finasteride and Minoxidil together which had completely restored all of the hair I had lost. I continued to take this combination throughout college. As I got older, the effectiveness of Minoxidil and Finasteride decreased. I stopped taking it about 5 years ago, which led to significant amounts of hair loss. It reached a point where I needed another solution. That’s when I learned about Shanna Moll and her studio.

What questions did you have about the hair loss solution process?

Overall my main questions were around the safety of the products. What side effects would they have? Were there any long-lasting negative risks like cancer? How effective is the product? How much does the product cost? How long can I sustain the solution? Was there research behind the solution?

What questions did you have for Shanna at the beginning?

I asked Shanna all of the questions above. I also wanted to know if her treatments were effective on others who had tried it and see examples of that. I wanted to know what kind of technology was used, how well the results lasted and if I was able to engage in all of the normal activities I am involved in, such as swimming. In addition, I asked about different payment options and price ranges available.

How would you describe your overall experience with Shanna and what makes you keep coming back to Refined Hair?

My overall experience has been great with Shanna Moll. She was very transparent about everything initially and she provided me with multiple payment options, making it possible for me to afford her services. She is always very welcoming and flexible. She treats me respectfully and accommodates any needs and addresses any concerns I might have. The staff at Refined Hair are fantastic and it has been an all-around great experience being their client.

If you could tell a potential customer one thing about Refined Hair, what would it be?

She will treat you professionally and give you the best option tailored to you. She will work hard to earn your trust and make you feel comfortable and happy with your results.

Which hair system do you use? What is your favorite thing about the hair system you use?

I was using the iThin System but have decided to move to the CNC System by Cesare Ragazzi. My favorite part about Cesare Ragazzi’s systems is how light and flexible they are. It’s almost like it is not there.

What advice would you give someone who just recently started experiencing hair loss?

I would say do your research and explore the options that are available while keeping in mind that there are many “snake oil” solutions out there. Be vigilant that the solution has the results to back it up. If you don’t want to use drugs, I would also recommend at least sitting down with Shanna Moll to discuss the solutions she has available because the 3-D printing technology she uses is amazing and it works. It might not be the option for everyone, but it is worth investigating.
